NEED CURRENT SEALER INFO
Hello everyone. I am a DIYer who dyed my entire house, concrete floor, translucent, red mahogany in 2007. I used a solvent sealer, then several coats of wax all commercial supplies that a contractor would use. It has a great high gloss finish. The floor looks great. The problem is that I get chips and at times scratches in the kitchen when forks, knives....fall off the counter. I would like to know if today, there is a bullet proof sealer that will be the best possible protection for the floor and will hold up to anything? I will be building another new (on slab) house.
NOTHING is bulletproof ... however, the toughest, most wear/abrasion resistant, ultimate survivor for shielding/protecting decorative concrete or any type of cementitous based surface (interior or exterior; including vehicle traffic areas) would be polyaspartic aliphatic polyurea (PAP). Furthrermore, PAP will bring out vibrance in color and remain clear even in full UV rays of the sun and they NEVER require costly/labor intense sacrificial floor waxes to maintain their high reflective glossy image (note: are available in high gloss or satin).
*
In your case though, preparing the surface for application of a PAP would require stripping of all wax residues, as well as the previous sealer itself (PAP will not achieve lasting bond to water or solvent based acrylic sealers; although they will lock onto 100% solids industrial/commercial epoxies).

PAP's are two component protective sealer/coating that have a limited potlife/working time to apply; not typically something that novices/diy property owners undertake (I'm not saying you can't do so, just that there is a learning curve when applying any type of two component resin/cure type of sealer). If you would like detailed information on PAPs; or, a contractor in your area capable of professionally applying them, please drop me an email message Lindy.Ausburne@gmail.com for my prompt attention and immediate follow up.

Bullet proof? If you find it let us all know!! lol I don't think anything is bullet proof but, Polyaspartics are probably the most durable I have used. I'm sure Lindy will be on here later and go more in depth with ya!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all
