Cast in Place Concrete Countertops
Cast in place concrete countertops are extremely popular because some of the obvious advantages such as quick turn around, not transporting heavy pieces, a seamless finish and a more rustic look, which some people prefer to the ultra slick pre-cast look.
The process of casting in place consists of forming and pouring at the job site. Proper forming is extremely important as there can be no form failures during the installation because any failure will mean more likely to remove and re pour. Another point the is very important is the reinforcement, concrete countertops have many turns and weak areas such as those surrounding the sinks and turns. To prevent cracking at these weak spots the contractor has to make sure he has enough reinforcement and a strong concrete mix.
With cast in pace concrete there are more limitations in term of fancy add on such as aggregate and colors but the skilled installer can still deliver a very nice product in the short term.
